Notary Chambers of Lithuania and Uzbekistan signed co-operation Memoradum aimed to facilitate accession of this Central Asian country to the International Union of Notaries (UINL).
The document was remotely signed by Marius Stračkaitis and Dilshod Ashurov, presidents of respectively Lithuanian and Uzbek chambers of Notaries, during the video teleconference between Vilnius and Tashkent.
The Memorandum envisions exchange of legal information related to notaries activities, visiting counterparts in each country, as well as co-operation in fields of professional training, improvement of notarial functions and other.
Since January 1, 2020, the private notariat has been introduced in Uzbekistan, along with existing system of state-run notariat. Private notary offices have been established, with all private notaries joining Chamber of Notaries, which is also open for state notaries to join. Notary Chamber of Uzbekistan is aspiring to join UINL, therefore seeks for international co-operation and expertise.
In 2018 delegation of Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries visited Tashkent and Samarkand.
